American Sentenced to Death in Iran
American accused of being a spy, sentenced death in IranAmir Mirza Hekmati, an individual with dual citizenship in both the United States and in Iran, has been sentenced to death in his natural country as a spy. The United States has stated many times that the individual is not a spy, and has requested his immediate return.
In a televised confession, Hekmati stated that he worked for a video game company based out of New York, in which he said the games are created to manipulate the public opinion in the Middle East. However, Washington has stated that the confession was not correct, and that the Iranian government actually forced the individual to state this information.
The American sentenced to death is going to be executed in Iran, unless something comes up in order to prevent the situation. However, tensions between the United States and Iran have been escalating in recent weeks, despite the United States saving a boat full of Iranian individuals from pirates a week ago. If the American sentenced to death is executed, it is going to put a further strain on the growing strife between the two countries. It is becoming more and more difficult for the two countries to work together, and although the two nations never had great relationships with one another, it is looking like it might reach a boiling point soon.
In addition to the American sentenced to death, there are reports that Iran has switched on a local uranium plant in order to test nuclear weapons. Most likely, this is going to draw further sanctions from Europe and the rest of the world.
